whats the difference between home and small business computers on dell?
i found a desktop on dell under small business that i like. it is 2.2ghz intel core2duo, 2gb ram, 1000gb hdd, ati radeon 2600XT HD graphics and it runs on windows vista home premium.. (no monitor but i alredy have a monitor at home) and it costs £294.00.
q1.is this computer any good?
q2. will any monitor be compatible with it?
q3. what diference will it make with me buying it in the small business section rather than the home section?
thanks in advance x

1) It’s a Dell…maybe.
2) Yes, although you may need an adapter plug if your monitor is not digital.
3) The licenses that come with it. The OS and programs are likely set-up as a business computer, which will mean a slightly different "feel".
However, given that it was set-up with VHP instead of VB or VU means that some "business" functions will be missing. So, if you’re wanting to run a business, no it’s not really a good deal. (Although you can "upgrade" to Business or Ultimate via the Microsoft website, and the cost isn’t that steep.)
I do know that the same computer here in Canada (mainly due to the 1Tb drive) would cost almost $1000
In any case, I had understood that Vista still hadn’t been approved for distribution in the EU/UK due to Privacy and other concerns that hadn’t been yet addressed fully yet.
Good Luck!
1 the specs look good for typical use
2 yes, as long as your monitor supports VGA or DVI input, the radeon 2600xt should be able to power it
3 business machines typically are more reliable since they undergo strict quality testing. they usually include added softwares such as remote management etc which are very important in a business environment
other than that, if you can get a cheaper "home machine", i’ll go for it and save some bucks
A1.) Yes, I would upgrade the ram, but that is easy to do later.
A2.) Yes, all new motherboards support VGA ports for monitors.
A3.) you need to have a business name. I just use my own name as they don’t really care.
Sometimes the business ones are made so that parts will work for diff models over a longer period of time since companies will buy them and it makes support easier. With home they might make one computer then the next model is completely different
