What type of memory do i need for my AMD athlon desktop?
Hi i have AMD athlon(tm) xp 2000+ with 1.67ghz, 400mb of ram and
i got this computer in 2001 and as you can see the ram is very small and i do not want to buy a new computer. I was just wondering what type of memory do i need to increase my ram.

You most likely have some variation on DDR ram. I would recommend PC 3200 as it is still compatible with all the old DDR motherboards.
A 1GB stick would probably be plenty.
I would open up your computer and look at the ram inside, it should say what it is, just get that same thing. If you cant find it that way type your exact model number in to google and look that way.
What is the model/make of your motherboard?

This really depends on the motherboard.
It really depends on the motherboard. Some Athlon motherboards available at that time supported old-style SDR RAM, others used the newer DDR RAM. (A very few motherboards could take either type of RAM, but they couldn’t use both types at the same time.)
Note that you will also be limited as to how much memory you can install. The limit could be anything from 1GB to 4GB depending on the motherboard.
