These are things I would use it for:

School work (I’m currently a senior in high school, so that means I’ll be going to college pretty soon)
Web browsing
Store/download/play music (Limewire + iTunes)
Store my photos
LIGHT graphics editing
LIGHT gaming (Maplestory)

I went on the HP website and customized and ideal computer; this is what I put together–

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit

Processor: Intel(R) Atom(TM) Processor N280 (1.66GHz, 512KB L2, 667Mhz FSB)

Memory: 3GB DDR3 System Memory (1 Dimm)

Hard Drive: 320GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive

Graphics Card: NVIDIA ION with a 5-in-1 Digital Media slot (For the N280 processor)

I know netbooks are meant to be secondary computers, but do you or do you not think those features can handle the things I would use it for?

It adds up to about 0 bucks. I can’t tell if it’s be worth it or not, I really don’t know much about computers.

Maybe you could tell me if I’m better off getting a notebook instead. Maybe you can recommend some around the same price with the same specs?

I’m getting a new, mini computer when I start high school. I want to be sure this lasts the four years and is pretty travel easy. Im also quite confused about everything I need for this computer. Things like gb storage, dvd player, a display, webcam, mobile broadband (I’d want the most high speed Wi-Fi connection), battery, vista/ viewing system and atom processor. Could anyone let me know what they would think I need for all the projects and such in high school? Better, could someone paste a link of a computer like this? Immediate ten points!!

What is the difference between an Intel Atom processor and Nano processor?

im prity good with computers but im not realy sure what the difference in between these prossesors so if you have an opinion on witch one is better pleaz post

An Intel Atom and the VIA Nano are processors designed specifically to be low power and so you aren’t going to be able to play many (if any) games on them. Check out a benchmark here

This should help you decide which is better, but like I said if you want to do gaming on the computer then these two should certainly be avoided.

They’re OK for web browsing, media (Not HD playback or really Blu-ray) however not for intensive tasks such as Photoshop, games, etc.
