I don't think you can upgrade from windows XP to 7. If you're a gamer, then I recommend you stay to XP though, if you're stuck with getting a mini notebook computer with accelerated speed and performance for games, then I'd turn to to AlienWare. Computers manufactured by Dell, if you aren't a gamer and just want 7 for more features though, and don't want to buy a new computer. The fun part comes in. Yes you can buy the Windows 7 disk, though you will have to buy another software. It's called VMWare workstation. Used to partition hardware and allow you to run it on your computer. You still have to start up in XP though and open up Workstation before you can go to windows 7, but I think that's only a minor problem. This should solve your windows 7 problem. If not, I apologize, I have actually not mini note book before. but I've seen windows 7 running on mini notebooks, so I the VMWare Workstation should work fine.

You can upgrade Acer puters, but you might want to check on the specs before you do anything. Such as 32 or 64 bit, processor and RAM requirements and such.

You can't upgrade from XP to 7. You'll need to start from scratch. 7 is more forgiving in respect to hardware than Vista, but you will probably see a performance hit on the netbook, as the video cards in them are minimal at best.
