Question about upgrading to Windows 7?
I have one of those ACER mini note book computers (those really small notebooks). It’s XP. I bought an external DVD burner because it didn’t have one. Could I buy a Windows 7 upgrade disk and upgrade this computer from XP to 7? I don’t know what the specs are on this computer so I would have to check that too to see if Windows 7 is compatible with it. I am asking this because I heard that Dell requires you to have disks from Dell to wipe out and recover your computer, although I don’t know if that is true or not. And I wasn’t sure if ACER was like that or not. I don’t want to buy the upgrade disk from the store and not be able to use it.

The small Acer netbook won’t run Windows 7.
I don’t think you can upgrade from windows XP to 7. If you’re a gamer, then I recommend you stay to XP though, if you’re stuck with getting a mini notebook computer with accelerated speed and performance for games, then I’d turn to to AlienWare. Computers manufactured by Dell, if you aren’t a gamer and just want 7 for more features though, and don’t want to buy a new computer. The fun part comes in. Yes you can buy the Windows 7 disk, though you will have to buy another software. It’s called VMWare workstation. Used to partition hardware and allow you to run it on your computer. You still have to start up in XP though and open up Workstation before you can go to windows 7, but I think that’s only a minor problem. This should solve your windows 7 problem. If not, I apologize, I have actually not mini note book before. but I’ve seen windows 7 running on mini notebooks, so I the VMWare Workstation should work fine.
You can upgrade Acer puters, but you might want to check on the specs before you do anything. Such as 32 or 64 bit, processor and RAM requirements and such.
not a good idea, netbooks arent even sold with win 7 that much, they have win 7 starter max (which sucks)
id say stick with xp its faster and better than win 7
You can’t upgrade from XP to 7. You’ll need to start from scratch. 7 is more forgiving in respect to hardware than Vista, but you will probably see a performance hit on the netbook, as the video cards in them are minimal at best.

plz first make sure your lil Acer meet the lowest Windows 7 configuration need…
in my view, installing window7 on netbook is not recommended though…
