Looking to buy a new computer… Which computer system is the better option? ?
I am looking at a few computers, looking for some opinions. I am not looking to spend a huge fortune, looking for great performance at the best deal. (my current laptop is gateway, have had for 6 years and love it. so I am partial to gateway, but do like HP’s warranty) I have Microsoft office 2007 here at home so I don’t need to purchase that in either computer. (I’ll add details if a comment asks a question or i feel that an answer needs explanation)
COMPUTER # 1
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4011653&CatId=17&cmpid=greatdeals
– that price does not include warranty.
COMPUTER # 2
.. customized an HP so the link wont work, but here’s the details:
HP dv5t – 8.97
– that price includes 2yr warranty including accidental coverage (includes spilling something on it, etc.), and a free DESKJET D1560 PRINTER

Looking for a real answer… why should i pick one over the other? I am not a gamer, heavy internet, multitasking, a lot of music/photos/movies etc. burning music and dvds.
last sentence was not very clear.. I am not a gamer, but do use computer for heavy internet, multitasking, storing music/photos/movies etc. and burning music cds/dvds
I am not familiar with Toshibas or newegg, but after reading about a toshiba on newegg (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834114489) I am not really too excited to jump into a toshiba

choice one, it seems like the same thing, but cheaper. just get an extra 2 gigs of ram, and it has windows 32bit, not 64 so all your stuff will work, but since the other has 64 bit, some older programs wont work.

There is no comparison, number 2. It’s RAM is faster and you’ll enjoy it much more.
go for the hp cause i think that the gateway is refurbished
the gateway is still a pretty good one but i’d go for the hp
My father just bought the Hp pavilion notebook with basically the same specs. He absolutely loves it. Its fast and reliable. Vista has its qwerks, but they are quickly being resolved with updates from Microsoft. I say go with the second laptop because of my father’s experience with it and it is overall the better choice for price and hardware. Enjoy.
you should not get either. you should go to newegg.com and check out their pricing. they are mainly a distributor for computers and parts for those who build them but they have all kinds of electronics. the kicker about newegg is that stuff is usually cheaper there than other places, their customer service is the best all around and the shipping is like lightning.
I suggest a Toshiba. I suggest NOT to get an HP. I really can’t say much about gateway nowdays, but if you havent’ bought one for 6 years dont expect a new gateway laptop to anything like the one you have now.
dont’ spend 800 bucks on a laptop. you dont need to. dont spend more than 500-600 bucks unless you travel a lot and would make very good use of it.
whatever you get make sure you get as much ram as your system will allow. its cheap and makes a huge difference with Vista. the more junk you put on your laptop the slower it will run ESPECIALLY with Vista. if you want a bunch of junk on your system then it doesnt’ matter what you get because it will never be a good performer. its the smaller applications that make it run worse because they are designed to run all the time in the background.
to be honest, Dell laptops can get very cheap. they aren’t the best, but they arent’ the worst either and you can get a decent one at a decent price. i still reccomend Toshiba tho. check them out before you buy. and GO TO NEWEGG.COM!!! they are much better than tiger direct.
Either one is fine for what you want but make sure to get a warranty regardless of what computer you get, even if it’s not one of the 2 you mentioned.
I would go for computer 2. You can do HD videos with it, games etc…..
You will have a faster computer FSB if you go for computer 1. You won’t feel any differents
2
well if you already have a printer, then get choice 1. If you don’t, then get choice 2.
um if ur a gamer vista sucks for real graphical games but if ur just regualer than go with computer #2
