A laptop under 300 will be a used or refurbished (was broken before it was even SHIPPED--then they fixed it using spare parts). You're better off waiting and getting something decent vs. purchasing a cheap one now that will break down two months later.

Save your money- Wait to get a 700 - 1000 one. Yes it will make you wait longer but the thing is, if you get a 300 one now... sure it'll last... 6-12 months..but then you will run outa memory... so then you will have to buy more attachments and more and more untill eventually it be just cheaper to get the 1000 one. I have a 1,200 one.. Runs awsome. And long as I keep good care will never have to replace. I suggest just waiting. It's the smartest thing to do.

my advice would be to take a look at the asus wind.
it packs a 1.6 ghz processor, 2gb of ram, and a 80gb 2.5 inch HDD, along with a 10 inch screen.
a linux version is available for 400, xp version is 500.
or take a look at the sellout woot (go to yahoo shopping and click deal of the day powered by woot, its a 500 dollar toshiba)

It's easy. Have one made with a really strong (fast) processor but make sure that you can upgrade memory so that the computer will be cheap and will be with you for a while.

Buy whatever is best for your needs do not buy too much computer for your needs.
