You can use laptop hard drives in a desktop, but you might need adaptors for the power and interface cables. Most laptop drives get their power right off the interface cable, whereas desktop drives have seperate cables for each. There are third party adaptors you can buy. The price varies depending on the type of drive you have and need, but they aren’t very expensive.
The difference between 5400RPM and 7200RPM is the speed in which the drive spins. The faster rotation typically means better input/output performance (faster reads and writes). But it also means more noise and more wear and tear on the drive. There are trade offs. Also, some drives actually vary between 5400 and 7200RPM based on the needs.
I hope this helps.
Ok you cannot use a laptop hard drive on a desktop without a special cable that can be found on newegg.com or from micro center another option is to use it as an external hard drive with an an enclosure but no there is not a large difference in the speed mabee a small noticeable difference on boot up but other then that unless your video editing you wont see a difference even in game play.
u cant use laptop hdd in desktop because the hdd connection will differ. RPM means revolution per minute. if the revolution is high u can access the date quickly. kardevi143@yahoo.co.in
