According to the most of laptop reviews I’ve read, Intel-powered notebooks have better performance than corresponding AMD’s. However, if you want a 15.4-inch AMD-based HP Pavilion go for a configuration that includes Radeon 3200 graphics. It’s newer and much better. The model name is Pavilion dv5z. It should be slightly cheaper than the dv5t (Intel inside).

Graphics Chip – FAIL
1280×800 Screen Resolution – FAIL
Rest of it doesn’t matter
The 4200 rpm hard drive is two generations behind and is the single worst feature of the laptop. Insanely slow. 5400 is slow. 7200rpm gets your laptop feeling just a bit like a desktop computer.
The 7150 is a slow shared memory chip without any of its own video RAM
