HP mini 311 as my primary computer?
These are things I would use it for:
School work (I’m currently a senior in high school, so that means I’ll be going to college pretty soon)
Web browsing
Store/download/play music (Limewire + iTunes)
Store my photos
LIGHT graphics editing
LIGHT gaming (Maplestory)
I went on the HP website and customized and ideal computer; this is what I put together–
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit
Processor: Intel(R) Atom(TM) Processor N280 (1.66GHz, 512KB L2, 667Mhz FSB)
Memory: 3GB DDR3 System Memory (1 Dimm)
Hard Drive: 320GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
Graphics Card: NVIDIA ION with a 5-in-1 Digital Media slot (For the N280 processor)
I know netbooks are meant to be secondary computers, but do you or do you not think those features can handle the things I would use it for?
It adds up to about 0 bucks. I can’t tell if it’s be worth it or not, I really don’t know much about computers.
Maybe you could tell me if I’m better off getting a notebook instead. Maybe you can recommend some around the same price with the same specs?

This computer is a netbook. They are both too small and too slow for any serious usage beyond surfing the internet. You will want a full size computer, either a laptop or a desktop. You could get a desktop for $600 dollars, including monitor, that would likely suit your needs. You definitely won’t be able to play any games or do any graphics work on this computer.
You are sooooo wrong dude^^^! I have the hp mini 311 and I play maplestory( my name is “oODrFetusOo” on windia) and it runs great because of the invidia drivers! Only rarely has there been any lag when i play! the only time you will notice lag is if your doing a platforming quest but it is still possible to beat. I play it on highest quality. There are tons of videos on youtube showing the amazing gaming capabilitiesof it. As for storing pictures, i wouldnt know about that, but i use gimp for editing and it works fine, however, i did install the trial version of adobe ill. cs5, and it didnt work out very well during the initial loading, it took five to ten minutes. As for web browsing, its not as fast as a desktop but it does get the job done. I wouldnt recommend this as a main computer though, its too small and if your goin to college you either need to buy more memory or get a better computer.
