How do I get story ideas?
I have really been wanting to start writing stories, but I’m having trouble coming up with story ideas. I have general idea, but the small details and how to start it always keep me from writing. And where would you write? In a notebook, on the computer?

I get my ideas from what I read, be it in the newspaper, textbooks, biographies, etc. Characters, events, food consumed, all can be found in the most mundane places.
I write in a notebook nearly every day, and if I’m happy with how a story/idea is going, I type it onto my computer. Its easier for me to concentrate on an idea when I’m writing by hand, there aren’t nearly as many distractions. I used to type primarily, but a few years ago I switched to long hand, and I’m not going back any time soon.
Hope this helps!
How? In a word, observation.
I write everything longhand in notebooks.
Always carry a notebook for ideas or rough drafts, writing on the computer is good and if you are planning to get published typed submissions are expected. But remember COMPUTERS FAIL! so always keep written notes or back up your work…
good luck:)
