Drive Module
2001 dodge stratus jerks while i drive and i have to wiggle transmission module to stop it. What is problem?

Sometimes my car just jerks out of gear.It idles on it’s own and i’m not a car guy at all. What does this problem sound like it could be?What is a transmission module and does that mean i need a whole new transmission?

The question is whether it’s an electronic transmission control problem or a failing transmission. If you’ve got 130,000 miles on the automatic transmission, I’d guess it’s a failing transmission. Take it into the Chrysler dealer and have him remove the transmission pan. Ask the technician to look at the fluid and debris in the pan to say whether the transmission is kaput. You’ll get some fresh fluid and a new filter.
DO NOT go to a national chain transmission shop like AAMCO. They make money rebuilding transmissions, so they’ll convince you to spend money rebuilding the transmission. You will want a new “remanufactured” transmission from the dealer or http://www.jasperengines.com if you plan to keep the car.
