Jack Power
is it possable to re solder the power jack back into a motherboard of a dell inspiron b130?

have had the computer a few years and do not want to spend money on a new motherboard. any help would be appreciated.

Yes, depending on the extent of the damage.

When you remove the motherboard from the case, you will see a fairly obvious soldered connection to the board from the Jack. If the board is broken, then you are SOL. But most jack issues stem from a broken plastic receiver and a bad mechanical solder joint rather than the board itself being broken.

The most stable repair would be to simply buy a new AC jack, one that is more sturdy, and solder that directly to the motherboard. It may take some modification, some have even attached the jack to the outside of the case to provide more durability.

Use a multimeter with a continuity function to help you determine which post is positive and which is negative, then solder the new jack to the board and secure it to something to prevent the issue from happening again.
